Search tips
Unfortunately our search engine is not as powerful as Google but the following tips should help you in finding what you are looking for quickly:
- Enter an artist name - titles and genres are not searched.
- For a successful search, enter a single keyword or a short phrase, such as "Holly" for Buddy Holly & The Crickets or "Costello" for Elvis Costello. Try to use the least common word.
- If you are unsure of the spelling of a word, just enter a part of the word, eg "Zep" for Led Zeppelin.
- The search is not case sensitive, ie searching for "Stones", "STONES" "stones", or "stoNES" will give the same result.
- The 'info' field in our database will also be searched for whatever you enter, meaning that if you search for "Bjork" you will be given a list of Bjork and Sugarcubes items and also any compilations featuring Bjork.
- Use "&" instead of "and".
- Avoid using the character ".", for example use "Blind Mr Jones" instead of "Blind Mr. Jones", "P J Harvey" instead of "P.J.Harvey" etc.
- Avoid beginning searches with "The" as our catalogue lists artists like The Beatles as just "Beatles"
- Search results can be narrowed down by format using the dropdown list below the search box. From here you can choose to see just CDs, vinyl, singles or albums.
